Amad Diallo is set to be unavailable for Manchester United for up to a month due to AFCON in December and January.

Man United boss Ruben Amorim will be looking ahead to the January transfer window, desperate to add to his squad, as there is a chance his United side could finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League.

Diallo could potentially be the most problematic loss, as Amorim has a distinct lack of wing-back options, especially when you consider that Diallo himself isn’t a natural wing-back. They could go into the January transfer window looking to add more depth at the position.

Man United should sign Munoz

Crystal Palace play a very similar formation to Man United, and Ruben Amorim’s biggest problem has been finding players who are suited to his system. United could look at Palace star Daniel Munoz, who is one of the best natural right-wing-backs in the Premier League.

Munoz has made 82 appearances for Palace, scoring nine goals and providing 14 assists, he is very adept in terms of his attacking ability, as he has a knack for getting forward and helping to create chances for Oliver Glasner’s side. Furthermore, Munoz is more defensively solid than Amad, as Diallo is more of an attacker, so Munoz could be the perfect addition to Amorim’s squad in January.

The 29-year-old also fits the mould of proven Premier League players that United want to sign, as he has already shown he is capable of performing consistently in the league for Palace. He has an estimated market value of around £21m, and Palace could be tempted to sell based on his age, so it could be wise for them to cash in on the Colombian international.

Which other wing-back could United sign?

The Red Devils have also been linked with Real Sociedad wing-back Jon Aramburu in recent months, with GiveMeSport reporting earlier in the season that United are plotting a bid for the 23-year-old in the January transfer window.

He is more suited to the left-hand side, but that is also a need for United, as Patrick Dorgu hasn’t been able to produce consistent performances since joining last January. Aramburu is likely to be more expensive as he is much younger than Munoz, but he has great attacking ability and fantastic pace.

The Venezuela international has made 77 appearances for Sociedad since he moved to the Spanish club from Real Union in 2024. He currently has an estimated market value of around £13m, but the Spanish club would likely demand a lot more, because he is a high-potential player who can play a role that many struggle to consistently. He’d be a great alternative to Munoz in January.
