Mason Greenwood has attracted interest from Napoli once again, and a double Manchester United reunion could be possible if the Italian giants revive their pursuit of the player. The former United academy graduate left the club in the summer of 2023 after United concluded a six-and-a-half month investigation and decided 'it would be most appropriate for him' to recommence his career at another club.
Greenwood had been charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault. He always denied all allegations. The Greater Manchester Police announced on February 2 that charges against Greenwood had been dropped.
The 24-year-old joined Marseille the following summer and has made 54 appearances to date for the French club. His stint in France has caught the eye of several clubs, with Calcio Mercato reporting that Napoli are among those interested.
However, Marseille's valuation is said to be over €60million (£53m). Antonio Conte's side tried to sign Greenwood prior to him joining Marseille.
At the time, The Athletic reported that Napoli had made contact over a move but were unsuccessful.

Whether they return to negotiations remains to be seen, but if a move were to happen in the near future, Greenwood would be reunited with Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund.
The latter is currently on a season-long loan at Napoli, with an obligation-to-buy clause included in the deal. If Napoli qualify for the Champions League then he will join in a £38m permanent transfer.
Both players have excelled in Italy, with McTominay establishing himself as a midfield mainstay. Last season, he was named Player of the 2024/25 season.
As for Greenwood, he is an important player for Roberto de Zerbi at the Orange Velodrome and any potential January transfer would prove difficult.
"He has the qualities to become one of the best players in the world," said the Italian coach. "He's incredibly talented, but he still needs to be even more useful for the team.
"I want to protect him because I don't like seeing him criticised – he's scored a lot of goals, he's never missed training, and he still has room to grow."
Greenwood completed a move from United to Marseille in a deal worth up to €31.6million (£28m).
