Manchester United came from behind to defeat Crystal Palace 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
In the 32nd minute, the hosts were awarded a penalty. Adam Wharton played a superb pass into Jean-Philippe Mateta, who took it well just inside the box, but was then brought down by Leny Yoro. Yoro's tackle on his fellow countryman was a blatant foul, and United players didn't even argue against it. Mateta stepped up to take the penalty, and although he converted it, after a VAR review, it was ruled out as he had touched the ball twice. The big striker, on his second attempt, slotted his penalty in the opposite bottom corner to give his side a 1-0 lead.
Right before half-time, Palace had a golden opportunity to double their lead, but Luke Shaw, who had an outstanding first half, was there to save his side with an excellent last-ditch block. Yeremi Pino played a ball through to Edward Nketiah, which Matthijs de Ligt attempted to intercept, but instead he slipped, and Nketiah found himself in on goal. The former Arsenal striker just took too long on the ball before unleashing his shot, which was brilliantly blocked by Shaw.
The first half came to a close with Palace leading United 1-0, but it could've and probably should've been more.
Despite being comfortably second best for the large majority of the match, in the 54th minute, United equalised through Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutchman, who was without a goal in 24 appearances prior to today, took his finish wonderfully, bringing it down in the Palace penalty area from a tight angle before half-volleying it right into the bottom corner past Dean Henderson.
Just nine minutes after equalising, United took the lead. It was Mason Mount with the goal, and the Englishman, after being laid off by Bruno Fernandes from a free kick, unleashed a shot from outside the box which beat Henderson at his near post and bypassed the extremely poor Palace wall.
Mount's goal ended up being the winning goal, and United took all three points at Selhurst Park.

GK: Dean Henderson - 5.5/10
After barely having a thing to do in the first half outside of a few saves in the first minute, Henderson was kept busy in the second half. The Englishman could've done better for both of United's goals, as for Zirkzee's, he left a lot of his goal open, and for Mount's, he was beaten at his near post and poorly set up his wall.
RWB: Daniel Munoz - 6.5/10
Put a few dangerous crosses into the box in the first half, which caused United's defence a few problems. Outside of that, Munoz didn't see much of the ball down the right flank and didn't have as much influence on the match as he typically does.
CB: Chris Richards - 7.5/10
Physically and aerially dominant, and was key for his side, especially in the first half, due to his ability to pick good passes out and start attacks.
CB: Maxence Lacroix - 7/10
Defended well for the most part and produced plenty of important clearances. Lacroix, although he didn't put a foot wrong, did have some moments where he looked close to making a mistake.
CB: Marc Guehi - 6/10
Had a solid first half, but a pretty poor second half. The England international struggled to deal with Mbeumo and kept giving away some silly fouls in dangerous areas.
LWB: Tyrick Mitchell - 5.5/10
Defensively struggled to deal with the threat of Mbeumo and didn't really have much influence in the final third.
CM: Adam Wharton - 8/10
Completely bossed the midfield in the first half. Wharton produced a killer pass, which led to Yoro bringing down Mateta for Palace's penalty. The youngster was a much-needed calm head in midfield and dictated the play when in possession.
CM: Daichi Kamada - 6.5/10
Worked hard and pressed well in midfield, but was arguably partially at fault for Zirkzee's goal, as he seemed to switch off defensively.
RW: Ismaila Sarr - 6/10
Substituted after just 38 minutes after suffering an ankle injury. Sarr was on the receiving end of a pretty heavy tackle by Dalot early on in the match, and he never recovered.
ST: Jean-Philippe Mateta - 8/10
Another good performance from the big striker. Mateta's hold-up and link-up play throughout the match was excellent and he was
LW: Yeremi Pino - 7/10
Had some tidy moments in the final third and was unlucky not to have an assist to his name after he played a brilliant ball through to Nketiah in the first half.
SUB: Edward Nketiah - 5.5/10
Squandered a really good opportunity in the first half after being played through on goal one-on-one with Lammens. Outside of that chance, Nketiah didn't really do much after coming on.

Manchester United Player Ratings
Luke Shaw in action for Manchester United against Crystal Palace in the Premier League
GK: Senne Lammens - 6.5/10
Outside of a few routine saves he had to make in the first half, Lammens didn't have much to do. The Belgian also wasn't needed much in possession of the ball.
RWB: Amad - 7.5/10
Had a quiet first half, but really came into the game in the second half and threatened plenty of times down the right wing and won some fouls in dangerous areas.
CB: Leny Yoro - 4.5/10
Gave away a penalty after clumsily bringing down Mateta in the first half. The young defender struggled to deal with the physicality and hold-up play of the big Frenchman and was brought off early in the second half.
CB: Matthijs de Ligt - 6.5/10
Was very close to being at fault for a potential Palace goal in the first half after he slipped following a pass through to Nketiah. De Ligt had a much better second half, as he managed to deal with Mateta pretty well.
CB: Luke Shaw - 8.5/10 (Man of the Match)
A standout performance by the Englishman. If it wasn't for Shaw, United probably would've gone into half-time an extra goal or two down. The experienced defender not only produced several extremely important tackles and blocks to save his side, but he was also very good in possession of the ball.
LWB: Diogo Dalot - 7/10
An energetic performance by Dalot. The Portuguese international was not only defensively solid, but he showed plenty of promise going forward as well.
CM: Casemiro - 7.5/10
Worked very hard and battled well in the midfield. Casemiro didn't have the best first half, but enjoyed a much-improved second half.
CM: Bruno Fernandes - 8.5/10
United's biggest creative threat. The skipper provided assists for both of United's goals and created more chances than any other player on the pitch.
RW: Bryan Mbeumo - 7.5/10
A bright spark for United going forward, especially in the second half. Mbeumo got the better of Guehi and Mitchell in the second half and created some good opportunities for his teammates.
ST: Joshua Zirkzee - 8/10
Had a pretty poor first half, but looked like a different player in the second half. Zirkzee took his goal brilliantly, and did very well in the hold-up and link-up play department also.
LW: Mason Mount - 8/10
Took his goal very well, although Henderson probably could've done better and was a real energetic presence in the midfield.
SUB: Noussair Mazraoui - 7/10
Replaced Yoro well and made United look a much calmer and compact defensive unit.
SUB: Lisandro Martinez - N/A
Didn't do much after coming on.
SUB: Patrick Dorgu - N/A
