Manchester United returned to winning ways on Sunday with a 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace. The Reds were slow in the first half and an opener from the home side always looked to be on the cards.

When Leny Yoro clumsily brought down Jean-Philippe Mateta, the striker gave Palace the lead. United were revitalised after the break and two set pieces made the difference. Fernandes set up Joshua Zirkzee for the equaliser and then laid the ball off for Mason Mount to win it.

After a much-needed three points for United, MEN Sport has taken a look at the moments you may have missed from the game:

Martinez leads the way

Coming onto the pitch before the game, the substitutes arrived around ten minutes after the starting XI. As they emerged, most of the players trudged towards the centre circle. But one man who was definitely ready for action was Lisandro Martinez. He led the way onto the pitch and looked back at his fellow subs as if to demand they picked up the pace. It shows the mentality and standards he is setting.

United need leaders in the dressing room and having Martinez back fit is a huge boost.

Casemiro and Henderson reunion

Just before the first big chance of the game, Casemiro took the chance to reunite with Dean Henderson. He clasped hands with the former United goalkeeper. Moments later, the Brazilian gave him a gift as he somehow did not convert from close range.

Special kind of pain

It was a special kind of torture for United as they conceded the opener. The first goal looked fine at first glance, and "Boom, boom, boom, boom, Mateta's in the room" was chanted by the home fans.

United fans could be heard chanting ‘What the f****** hell was that?’ but unfortunately for them, VAR ensured another rendition would follow as Mateta converted his second attempt.

Yoro head in hands

After United equalised there were wild scenes in the away end, but Yoro couldn't hide his frustration at his own performance. He had his hands on his head while sitting on the bench after being replaced by Noussair Mazraoui. It has been a difficult week for Yoro but he is still young and he will learn from a tough few days.

Fernandes comes good

After the Everton defeat, Bruno Fernandes will not have been happy with his own performance. However, the theory that when the captain plays well, United play well was clear after this victory.

Fernandes was not in the first half but he led from the front in the second. His two free kicks aside, the Portuguese midfielder impressed with his work rate and set the standard for his teammates - a good afternoon after a rocky start for him.
