"Deserved": Maguire blown away by£25m Man Utd star who won eight duels vs Crystal Palace

Manchester United returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Sunday with a 2-1 comeback triumph over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The Red Devils were far from their best during the opening half in south London. Palace scored from the penalty spot and undoubtedly played with better intensity.

However, United stepped up their performance after the interval. Joshua Zirkzee led the comeback with a sublime goal from a tight angle to beat goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Mason Mount put the gloss on the second-half showing with a stellar free-kick. Bruno Fernandes was the architect, providing assists for both goals.

Shortly after the 2-1 win, Zirkzee posted a picture of himself celebrating the goal on Instagram. Several United stars were quick to comment, including Harry Maguire.

Maguire posted a four-word message saying: ‘Well done mate. Deserved’.

Zirkzee was guilty of losing possession on 21 occasions and completed only 65 percent of his passes.

However, he put in a strong shift after the interval. His goal came at a crucial period for the Red Devils.

The Dutchman also won eight duels with three recoveries, two clearances and two tackles (100 percent).

The £25 million-rated star has now started in back-to-back games for the Mancunian giants.

He was unlucky against Everton as goalkeeper Jordan Pickford denied him with a fabulous save.

Zirkzee scored out of the blue against Palace, but that should provide him with a lot of confidence.

With Benjamin Sesko due to return from injury in the near future, Zirkzee needs to continue scoring goals to become the mainstay upfront ahead of the Slovenian.

United host West Ham United in their next Premier League game on Thursday night.
