Mason Mount helped to lead Manchester United’s comeback against Crystal Palace and he continued to show his value beyond the final whistle.
Manchester United fell behind at Selhurst Park to Jean-Philippe Mateta’s penalty, although the Crystal Palace striker had to take two attempts at his spot kick after his first was ruled to have touched both feet.
Leny Yoro conceded the penalty after clumsily tripping Mateta in the first half. It was an afternoon to forget for the French defender, who was taken off and replaced by Noussair Mazraoui in the second half.

Thankfully, Ruben Amorim inspired his players to a second-half comeback with Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount scoring their first goals of the season to give United a 2-1 win over Palace.
Mount is a popular figure in United’s dressing room, and he took it upon himself to lift Yoro’s spirits after full time.

Mason Mount supported Leny Yoro after Crystal Palace mistake
Yoro was visibly upset with himself after being taken off against Palace. Despite starting brightly, his confidence clearly took a hit after conceding the penalty.
Even after the full-time whistle, Yoro appeared dejected as United players went to applaud the travelling supporters.

He has proven himself to be a consummate professional, and that is why Mount continues to work his way into Amorim’s plans.

Reports from Carrington suggest that Mount is a role model for academy players, with the English midfielder helping to take younger players under his wing.
Player power and ego have been a problem for United in the past, but Mount is exactly the kind of player that Amorim will want in his dressing room.
