Ex-Manchester United player Antony found himself on the receiving end of abuse during a chaotic Seville derby. The 25-year-old was unable to participate in Real Betis's Sunday match against rivals Sevilla due to a suspension from a previous game against Girona.
Watching from a box in the stands, the Brazilian witnessed his team secure an impressive 2-0 victory, courtesy of goals from former West Ham midfielder Pablo Fornals and Sergi Altimira.
Antony, who made his move to Betis permanent this past summer following a six-month loan, was seen cheering for his team in footage captured from the stands. The winger was spotted goading the home fans while celebrating one of Betis' goals at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
Social media platforms were flooded with videos showing Antony shouting and raising his arms towards Sevilla supporters, who responded by hurling bottles and other objects at his box. Some fans were seen making obscene gestures towards the footballer amidst the intense atmosphere that eventually spilt over onto the pitch.

With Betis leading 2-0 and only eight minutes remaining, Sevilla winger Isaac Romero was shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on Betis's Valentin Gomez. Romero's dismissal only added fuel to the fire in the stands, with more bottles and projectiles being thrown onto the pitch.
The escalating tension prompted referee Jose Luis Mubuera Montero to temporarily halt the match. The game was paused for a quarter of an hour before both teams returned to play out the remaining minutes.
The win, under the guidance of former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, propelled Betis to fifth place in LaLiga. They now trail Atletico Madrid by seven points for the last Champions League qualification spot.
Following a challenging three-year spell at Old Trafford, Antony has managed to revive his once-promising career in Spain, contributing 15 goals and eight assists in his 39 appearances for Betis so far. Upon his departure from United last summer, the winger said: "What happened in Manchester, only I know how difficult it was."

With a tally of six goals in 13 matches this season, the Brazilian international has been instrumental in Betis' recent rise, although his discipline was nearly called into question again during their Europa League fixture against Utrecht.
During the Thursday night match, Antony came close to receiving what would have been a second successive red card when he appeared to headbutt his opponent, Souffian El Karouani.
The Utrecht left-back fell to the ground holding his head, but Antony avoided a booking. The incident was subsequently reviewed by VAR, but the officials also absolved Antony of any wrongdoing.
