Andre Onana has suffered a fresh blow with the Manchester United loanee left out of Cameroon's squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament. The 29-year-old goalkeeper was exiled from Ruben Amorim's squad before signing for Trabzonspor on a temporary basis in the summer, though he does not seem to have a future at Old Trafford.
Altay Bayindir and later on summer signing Senne Lammens saw Onana omitted from United's set up before his move to Turkiye. He has since made ten appearances for Trabzonspor with three clean sheets arriving in that time.
Onana has also made three appearances for Cameroon with two of those fixtures ending in defeat for his national team. The most recent loss came against DR Congo which saw Cameroon out of the running to qualify for next summer's World Cup.
He has since suffered a fresh blow with the decision made and now confirmed via the Cameroon FA's Instagram that he will not be representing his country at AFCON throughout December and potentially January. Instead, Simon Omossola, Devis Epassy, Simon Ngapandouetnbu and Edouard Sombang will be the 'keepers heading to the tournament.

Their caption read: "Here are the 28 #LionsIndomptables who will defend the colours of Cameroon at the CAN Total Energies Morocco 2025," The image included shows small pictures of those set to feature with United's Bryan Mbeumo present.
Other notable names such as Brighton's Carlos Baleba and former Tottenham winger Georges-Kevin N'Koudou have been named in the 28-man squad while Vincent Aboubakar has been left out. Onana's omission comes as a surprise considering he has been in between the sticks for all of their games over the last few months.
Another setback in his career follows rather brutally exiting Old Trafford with the United boss giving a thorough verdict on Onana following his departure.

He said: "We saw Andre had a very, very good season at Inter. The quality is there. But we are in the club and sometimes, in the moment, things can get harder and harder.
“You can be really experienced but in this club, the pressure is sometimes so hard on every detail. I think we understood that this needed a change. Sometimes it’s hard to point why. It’s the performance, the moments.
“The bad luck in some moments was hard on him, was hard on us. Our thinking is to have a change in the goalkeepers.”
He added: “I wish the best for Andre. He was really good at working, trying to help the players.
“Sometimes you can have all the quality in the world, but sometimes you need to change the environment to return to your level.
“That was a feeling, not just from us, but also from Andre.”
