Ruben Amorim could have a selection headache coming up with two of his players risking suspension.
Furthermore, United’s fixtures after that are fairly decent, as they will play the likes of Wolves and Bournemouth; Both very winnable games, which could see United cement their place in the top four of the Premier League table.
However, two United players risk suspensions at the moment and may not be available for selection in the upcoming games, which would hand Ruben Amorim a massive selection headache that he could do without.
Casemiro and Dorgu risk suspensions
Heading into their next game against West Ham, Casemiro and Patrick Dorgu are both on four yellow cards in the Premier League, which means they risk suspensions if they pick up a fifth yellow. If either player is booked, they will be suspended for one match, which could cause Amorim some problems. They both need to avoid a fifth booking until after United’s 19th league game to avoid a ban.
If either Dorgu or Casemiro are booked against West Ham, they will miss the game against Wolves. If they’re booked against Wolves, they’d miss a game against Bournemouth, and if they’re booked against Bournemouth, they would miss a tough matchup with Aston Villa on December 21.
Both players have been regular starters for United this season, with Casemiro starting in the holding midfield role, and Dorgu starting at left-wing back. If Casemiro were to be suspended, Amorim would likely bring in one of Kobbie Mainoo or Manuel Ugarte to replace him. If Dorgu were to face a suspension, Amorim would potentially play Diogo Dalot on the left, or bring in one of Noussair Mazraoui or summer signing Diego Leon.
Three more United players set to miss Villa match
Amad and Mbeumo have been simply excellent this season, with the latter being arguably Man United’s best player so far, as he has scored five goals and one assist in the Premier League.
Without Amad, Mbeumo and Mazraoui, replacing the likes of Dorgu and Casemiro becomes even more difficult, so in a weird way, Amorim would probably rather they get booked sooner rather than later, if at all, whilst he still has more squad members to help replace them with.
It could be a real issue for Amorim, especially with games against the likes of Newcastle and Manchester City, whilst the trio are away during AFCON. They should all expect to be back in the side for United’s game against Arsenal on January 25 though.
