Sergio Aguero believes it is crucial for Marcus Rashford to be in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup. The Manchester United loanee has become a regular for the Three Lions since Thomas Tuchel took charge at the start of the year.
His most recent England appearance saw the 28-year-old register an assist in the nation’s 2-0 win over Albania. Now, Rashford will look to continue his strong form in Spain as he pushes for a place at the World Cup.
On how the forward has settled in La Liga, Aguero told Stake: “I think Rashford is doing very well. He’s scored goals, provided assists and looks very well adapted to the team.
“He has been among those called up by Tuchel and has had minutes. Who will be starter only Tuchel knows. Just being in the squad is very important.”
Rashford has scored six goals and provided seven assists in his opening 18 games in all competitions for Barcelona. The Spanish giants currently sit top of La Liga, one point ahead of fierce rivals Real Madrid.

Although moving to Spain’s second city was a dream for Rashford, he had already revealed the thing he was most excited about - playing at the Camp Nou.
After sealing his loan move, Rashford said: “It’s a very nice feeling. It’s a beautiful stadium and when it is full it’s going to be unbelievable.
“Camp Nou was always one of my favourite stadiums and one I wanted to play in. But to play on it for Barcelona is going to be a different feeling. I cannot wait to be on the pitch. I will enjoy it.”
Rashford’s wish came true on Saturday when he came on in the second half of Barca’s clash with Deportivo Alaves. It was the club’s second match at the newly renovated stadium, though Rashford missed the first due to illness.
The iconic ground has been under renovation since 2023. During the rebuild, Barcelona played all their ‘home’ fixtures at the 55,000-capacity Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium.
The aim for the new Camp Nou is to increase capacity to 105,000 seats. For their first two matches back, attendance has been capped at 45,000. The project is estimated to have cost around £1.25billion.
Rashford returned to a Premier League ground last month when Barca faced Chelsea in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge, a match Enzo Maresca’s side comfortably won 3-0. Back in September, the 28-year-old had impressed on English soil when he netted a stunning brace at St James’ Park in a 2-1 win over Newcastle.
Barca are not due to face any more English teams in the Champions League league phase, but a knockout tie remains possible, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool all performing.
Domestically, Rashford’s focus will be on helping Barcelona secure back-to-back La Liga titles. If he continues to shine in Spain, a permanent move could also be on the table.
