Manchester United will try to build on their momentum with another win, this time under the lights at Old Trafford against West Ham.
After beating Crystal Palace 2-1, a side Man Utd don’t have a good record against, West Ham is another tricky fixture because they have also dominated their games against United of late.
The last time these two sides faced each other in the Premier League, West Ham ran out comfortable 2-0 winners as United almost gave the game away in their chase for the Europa League.

A player who had his worst game for United by that point struggled badly, but he’s a different beast now, albeit not at Old Trafford right now.

Man Utd vs West Ham was Harry Amass’ baptism by fire
Because of injuries and priority for the Europa League, Ruben Amorim had started throwing kids into the starting lineups of the Premier League with abandon,
Amorim has since admitted he did it out of necessity, as some youngsters were thrown into the deep end earlier than they were ready.
It was true for Chido Obi, but for Harry Amass, last season’s breakthrough was a culmination of effort that Man Utd fans believed he merited.

Amass was faring well in his minutes for the senior team, until West Ham arrived at Old Trafford and gave Amass his “Welcome to senior football” lesson.

The youngster was outmatched physically and tactically as the Hammers repeatedly targeted his side en route to a 2-0 win.
Due to Amorim wanting to save his players for the Europa League, there was no reprieve for him either, as he played the full 90 minutes in a chastening experience.
Amass’ 3/10 performance that day could have derailed his confidence, but it is a testament to his mentality that he took it as his baptism of fire and is a different beast flourishing in difficult circumstances now.
Amass has taken a leap after the game
Every youngster is bound to have poor games when they are making the step up, but Amass showed he’s made of the right stuff by not letting it get him down.
In fact, he bet on himself and joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan this season, a club that are mired in financial crisis and doomed for relegation.
In a situation where the very existence of the club is in danger, Amass has emerged as a ray of light, earning praise from his teammates and manager for the way he has gone about his business.
Amass is a transformed player now, as said by his manager at Wednesday, and the game at West Ham is now firmly a bump in a long road, instead of a stoppage.
It can even be argued that Amass needed that game to understand the leap needed to make a name for himself in senior football.
By flourishing at Wednesday this season, he’s proven that he is up for the challenge of senior football, and United will benefit from it in the long term.
He won’t be there on Thursday to redeem himself against West Ham, but he might become a first-team fixture in this game in the years ahead.
