Bruno Fernandes has been the subject of transfer speculation for over a year, but rumours concerning the Manchester United captain won’t disappear any time soon.
Last summer, Manchester United talisman Bruno Fernandes was the subject of significant interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Al-Hilal offered £100 million to United on top of a hefty salary increase for Fernandes, but it wasn’t enough to convince the Portugal international to move from England to the Middle East.
Fernandes quickly turned down Al-Hilal because he wanted to stay at Old Trafford, but since then, he has played out of position.
United held talks over selling Fernandes since the summer transfer window closed, but it has been stressed that he won’t be pushed out of the club.
The Saudi Pro League clubs could reignite their interest in Fernandes if he considers a move away from United in the coming year.

Fabrizio Romano shares Bruno Fernandes update
Fernandes is preparing for a big year in 2026.

Romano said: “And in the case of Bruno, the appreciation from Saudi remains. From Saudi, they tried in the last three years to sign Bruno Fernandes. It was last summer, but also in the last two, three years, they always, always tried for Bruno, and they always say, no, I want to stay at Man United.
“So now Bruno is only focused on this season with Man United to try to do their best possible. Then there is the World Cup. So before that, Bruno will have no distraction in a similar situation as Harry Kane.
“Then after the World Cup, we will see. But at the moment, the situation remains absolutely under control.”

Kane was previously linked with a move to United, but the Red Devils have prioritised younger centre-forwards in the transfer market. Rasmus Hojlund spent two years leading the line before signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig in the summer.
While United still need extra additions in attack, especially if Joshua Zirkzee leaves in the new year, the ship has surely sailed for Kane at Old Trafford.
Bruno Fernandes is topping assist charts in the Premier League
Although Fernandes is playing a deeper role in midfield, Fernandes added two assists to his tally in United’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.
As things stand, Fernandes is topping the charts for most assists (5) in the Premier League this season.
Fernandes will be eager to add more goal contributions to his season tally on Thursday night when the Red Devils take on West Ham.
The Portuguese Magnifico recorded his best assist tally for United in 2022/23 when he set up 16 goals across all competitions.
