Juventus will be without the services of Dusan Vlahovic for the foreseeable future.
The Bianconeri announced the Serbia striker has been diagnosed with a “high-grade” adductor strain. Vlahovic picked up the injury during the team’s 2-1 win over Cagliari on Saturday.
“My feeling is that it will take two to three months to see him back on the pitch,” manager Luciano Spalletti said during a media availability. “I would have preferred to have him available because he was very focused and very much part of the team.”
Vlahovic, 25, is in his fifth season with the club after a move from Fiorentina. He has six goals in 17 appearances across all competitions this season.
With the injury to Vlahovic, Canada forward Jonathan David is expected to looked upon to pick up some of the slack in his absence.
David and \[Belgium forward Lois\] Openda together? I hope they can make the most of this opportunity, given Vlahovic’s absence," Spalletti said. “They are two different players, so they can play together. They played together in the league match against Udinese, not from the start, but they have been on the pitch at the same time in the recent past.”
David, 25, is in his first season in Torino following a move from Lille on a Bosman this summer. He’s made 12 Serie A appearances for the team this season, including five starts. In 505 total minutes, David has a goal and an assist.
The Bianconeri currently sit seventh in the table on 23 points, four behind Roma for the final Champions League place and five points adrift of leaders Milan. They return to action later on Tuesday with a visit from Udinese in the Coppa Italia Round of 16.
