Reports have suggested that United and Maguire, 32, have held talks over a new deal. However, he would be expected to take a pay cut on his wages – thought to be in the region of £190,000 per week.
The same can be said of Casemiro, who pockets an extortionate £350,000 weekly and is the club’s highest earner.
Of the two, the Brazilian is being utilised considerably more as of late, albeit Maguire has struggled to stay fit since the term got underway.
When available, Casemiro has started 11 of the 13 Premier League matches played, being used off the bench against Manchester City and missing out entirely against Brentford through suspension.
The centre-half, on the other hand, has featured from the off on four occasions and been substituted into the action in four games. He has been an unused option twice.

United decided to activate Maguire’s one-year option in January to avoid him leaving for nothing.
Casemiro, 33, has the same clause included in his contract, though it would mean paying him his hefty salary for an additional year, whereas the board would much rather see it reduced before extending his stay at Old Trafford, if that’s what they decide to do.
