Manchester United’s loan list has been a list of success stories this season for a change, but Gary Neville won’t be pleased with one player’s latest accomplishment.
While it is unclear exactly what involvement he has, this season can be considered a success for Manchester United’s loans and pathways manager, Jonny Evans, as he has overseen some real successes.
Harry Amass is United’s biggest loan success this season, taking to Championship football like a duck to water and no doubt doing wonders for other current academy players hoping to head on loan.
He isn’t alone, with Radek Vitek shining at Bristol City and Toby Collyer also very solid with West Brom. But down one tier in League One, there is another success story.

Manchester United’s Dan Gore scores for Rotherham against Salford City
After back-to-back loan failures, this season has been a refreshingly positive experience for Dan Gore at Rotherham.

The United academy graduate has picked up regular first-team football, been important to his team, avoided injury and also, most importantly, Gore has played really well.
Now, he’s added the first senior goal of his career, and it came in Rotherham’s 7-2 thumping of Gary Neville-owned Salford City in the EFL Cup round of 32.

So while United figures will be celebrating Gore’s goal and the confidence it will bring, Neville will instead be furious at his team for losing so heavily.
Gore has been very impressive this season, and he could absolutely end up playing himself into Amorim’s plans next summer.
But he wasn’t alone in impressing mid-week.
Ethan Wheatley named Northampton’s man of the match
Like Gore, last season’s loan was a disaster for Ethan Wheatley, barely playing for Walsall, but this season he has been much improved for Northampton Town.
Wheatley has shown some really good striker fundamentals to score three goals in League One, but more pleasing are his performances, which have been good lately.
Tuesday night saw Wheatley step it up a notch in a 2-0 win, being handed the man of the match award with his assist.
Wheatley was good on the ball and off it in the win, showing excellent development against Wycombe.
