Man Utd are expected to sanction several fresh loan exits in the January transfer window.

Manchester United striker Chido Obi is expected to be sidelined for close to a month after he missed the U21s defeat to Anderlecht in the Premier League International Cup on Tuesday night.

The 18-year-old has five goals and two assists in 12 appearances for the United academy this season and has not been included in a senior squad. His last appearance came for the U21s against Notts County in the EFL Trophy on 4 November and he might not play again before a possible loan move in January.

Obi is one of the United youngsters considered for a loan exit next month to gain some valuable experience at the first-team level. He made eight senior appearances last season and scored his first senior goals on their post-season tour of Asia. The Danish youth international also featured on the pre-season tour of the United States before United decided to oversee his development for the first half of the current campaign.

Manchester United will consider any serious loan proposals for Chido Obi, Ayden Heaven and Diego Leon in the January transfer window. The teenage trio are all on the fringes of the United first-team and unlikely to feature much during the second half of the season.

Obi might have gained some valuable squad experience during the recent absences of Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha, but has been unable to take advantage of the opportunity due to injury. A loan spell could be crucial in his development, and last month Ruben Amorim was asked about the former Arsenal striker.

"Yeah, of course, he played last year, I think it was too soon," Amorim said. "We didn't have a team that we can put a young kid with 16, that he will not struggle, or will struggle a little bit, was completely necessary to do that, the perfect conditions, we have the opportunity, and we seek that opportunity for the kids.

"So he's one of the guys, but I think he started too soon, and sometimes it's hard to deal with that, with the kids, because they think that I'm already here, no, you are here for necessity, and we need to be careful also with that, with the kids."

Obi made his debut as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur on 16 February and later became the youngest player to start a Premier League game for United when he was named in the line up against Brentford on 4 May.
