Shea Lacey has been in the last two Manchester United squads
Ruben Amorim believes Manchester United teenager Shea Lacey is ready to make his senior debut for the club, despite leaving him as an unused substitute against Everton and Crystal Palace. The 18-year-old has had his first taste of being part of a matchday squad in recent weeks and the forward is highly-rated within the [United](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/all-about/manchester-united-fc) academy.
Although he didn't get on for his senior debut and could find his place in the 20-man squad taken with Matheus Cunha's return to action, Amorim insists Lacey is ready for a chance and will get one soon. United have no European games this season and are already out of the Carabao Cup, reducing the number of opportunities for young players to feature.
Lacey has been training with the senior squad and Amorim has been focusing on the differences between playing for academy sides and the speed of first-team football. Even if he is out of the squad against West Ham on Thursday, Amorim insists it is a matter of time until he makes his debut.
"Try to explain every day how to play, because if you're comfortable and don’t have many doubts when you are playing that will help the kids to play," Amorim said of his approach to Lacey in recent weeks.
"Then to work the physicality, to understand when he’s training with us, understand the speed of the pressure, the moments to have the ball and pass the ball is completely different to Under-21s. That is the only way I know how to prepare a kid to play for the club, especially this club. He’ll have the chance, I don’t know when, but he’s ready to play."
