The 20-year-old Frenchman had started United’s 2-1 Premier League win over Crystal Palace in the three-man backline with Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw.

But Yoro looked off the mark compared with usual and the United defender was at fault for Palace’s first-half penalty after he brought down Jean-Philippe Mateta.

United manager Amorim made the decision to sub off Yoro in the second half and replaced him with Noussair Mazraoui for the remainder of the Premier League tie.

The 40-year-old United head coach insisted that the centre-back must show more control with his emotions when he makes his way off the pitch and onto the bench.

“I also spoke with him because he thinks too much, he makes a mistake in the game and then he struggles because he’s too young and he wants to do everything so well,” Amorim said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“He’s growing, with games and with setbacks, it’s not easy for him as a young guy.

“He cannot give that to the people: the way he came to the bench. He understands that, but he was really frustrated.”

Speaking at the Carrington training complex, Amorim insisted that Yoro’s reactions during the Palace match should not be seen in a completely negative way.

“On the good side, it shows that he cares, he knows it wasn’t his best game but he did some things well and I showed him that also,” he added.

“He’s fit and ready for the next challenge.”
