Manchester United star Matheus Cunha is back in contention ahead of Thursday’s clash with West Ham but two mystery stars are doubts. The Brazilian has missed the Red Devils’ last two matches against Everton and Crystal Palace with a slight issue.

But United can welcome the former Wolves star back into contention this week. Cunha has been spotted back in training and is available to play.

Despite that positive news, boss Ruben Amorim could have a few headaches, with a couple of United stars potentially doubtful - albeit the Portuguese coach stopped short of revealing who.

"We have two doubts for the game, it will change the way we’re going to approach it, let’s see if they can play," the United head coach said in his pre-match press conference. "The rest of the squad is good. Matheus is back. Harry and Sesko are still out."

Regardless, Cunha’s return will be a huge boost, with United having a few issues when it comes to their attack. The 26-year-old has scored just once since his £62.5m move from Wolves but Amorim believes there is far better to come.

He added: “He has more levels to go. He’s at a different club, different pressure. He was struggling because he was not scoring, he was thinking too much about the numbers but the influence he has in the team is important to us.”

Cunha’s return will give the United boss a decision to make over his side. Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee has been leading the line over the past few weeks and scored his first goal of the season in the comeback victory against Crystal Palace last time out.

Another star who Amorim has a decision to make over is central defender Leny Yoro. The Frenchman has endured a difficult few weeks but Amorim has backed the defender to overcome his issues.

He said: “It’s really important. I also spoke with him because he thinks too much, he makes a mistake and then he struggles. He wants to do everything so well. He’s growing, with games and with setbacks, it’s not easy for him as a young guy.

“He cannot show that to the people the way he came to the bench, he knows that. It shows he cares, he knows it wasn’t his best game.”

Following their clash with West Ham, United will then turn their attention to a showdown with rock-bottom Wolves on Monday evening at Molineux.
