Retired tennis champion Ana Ivanovic has reportedly filed for divorce from former Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, following claims that he was involved in an affair.
According to German outlet Bild, Ivanovic submitted the divorce petition in November at the Munich District Court. The couple, who first met in 2014 and married in a stunning ceremony in Venice in 2016, had been together for nine years before their separation earlier this year.
Ivanovic, 38, is also said to have filed for child support in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, where she lives with their three sons—Luka, Leon, and Teo.
The split became public in July when Ivanovic’s representative, Christian Schertz, confirmed that the former couple had parted ways due to “irreconcilable differences.”
Reports in Germany suggested that the marriage had already been under strain after Schweinsteiger was allegedly spotted kissing another woman—identified only as “Silva,” believed to be Bulgarian—in June.
Media claims indicate the two may have known each other through their children’s school and that the alleged affair began in the summer of 2024.
Further reporting from Bunte suggested Ivanovic had been open to reconciliation, but Schweinsteiger was said to have insisted he wanted to “live freely.”
The pair was last seen publicly together at the Laver Cup in September 2024.
Schweinsteiger, 41, enjoyed a brief spell at Manchester United, winning the FA Cup in 2016 before moving to MLS side Chicago Fire, where he concluded his playing career in 2019.
