The January transfer window is now weeks from opening, and Manchester United look set to do some business with Christos Mouzakitis increasingly named as a target.
While there won’t be lots of transfers completed in January, Manchester United seem set to try and improve the options available to Ruben Amorim in midfield.
United could free up funds to sign a midfielder, reports have suggested, with more budget-friendly options being considered for January, before Elliot Anderson and others could become targets in the summer.
Over the past week, Christos Mouzakitis has found himself increasingly linked with a move to Old Trafford, and now a bid has been reported.

Details of Manchester United’s bid to sign Christos Mouzakitis
Earlier this week, it was revealed that United scouts had watched Mouzakitis against Real Madrid, in a very impressive performance which saw him cover the most ground in the entire game.
After this game, it emerged that Real Madrid had already made a £25m offer for the Golden Boy-winning Greek midfielder. Now, United have also cast an offer Olympiacos’ way.

This is according to the Greek outlet, Sportime, which claims that United have made a preliminary offer of £24.4m to sign Mouzakitis, although this is a fee that won’t be enough.

It won’t even be enough to get Olympiacos to the negotiating table with close to £34m, the asking price and £26m required to begin negotiations.
However, a second report from Sportime claimed that Olympiacos’ second consideration for Mouzakitis’ next move will be where they see him developing best.
In this regard, United can offer first-team football while Real Madrid cannot.

This saw Mouzakitis then compared with Andres Iniesta for his silky dribbling and creativity in midfield, but Mouzakitis’ game is actually much more than that.
The 18-year-old has an unlimited engine, meaning he has the intensity and legs to run like a mad dog, ticking that Amorim demand.
Additionally, despite being small physically, Mouzakitis doesn’t mind getting stuck into tackles and duels, which will be something that only continues to improve.
Mouzakitis is the perfect Amorim midfielder, and for the price quoted, it is absolutely a worthwhile move for United.
