Man United have been linked with Eintracht Frankfurt full-back Nathaniel Brown ahead of the January transfer window

The Man United boss has seemingly managed to turn around United’s fortunes this season, and will be looking positively ahead to January. In terms of transfers, midfield remains a priority, but the Red Devils could also do with help at the wing-back positions.

They are currently playing Amad Diallo as a wing-back, which isn’t his natural position, and Patrick Dorgu on the other side, who has been inconsistent at best this season, so could do with being replaced.

Man United targeting Nathaniel Brown

One name that the Red Devils have been linked to alongside other Premier League clubs is Frankfurt full-back Nathaniel Brown, who is having somewhat of a breakout season for the German club. He’s made 12 Bundesliga appearances this season, scoring one goal, and providing two assists, and has also become a mainstay in the German national team.

According to Caught Offside, Man United and Arsenal are set to target Brown in the summer, but it won’t be an easy deal to complete. The report says that the 22-year-old is expected to cost at least £48m, as Frankfurt are reluctant to sell him amid their pursuit of European football.

The report says that Brown is a more natural left-wing-back, so he could move to United to replace Dorgu, which would then make Dorgu more of a squad player. The great thing about signing Brown is that he plays in a 3-4-3 formation, similar to Amorim’s, but the downside is his cost. Man United could look at a Premier League star instead, who would be much cheaper.

Man United should sign Tyrick Mitchell instead

Mitchell’s contract at Selhurst Park is due to expire in June 2027, meaning that Palace could be keen to sell him soon to avoid letting him leave as a free agent. The benefit of this is that they could be tempted to sell him for less than his value to ensure they still get a return on their investment.

The 26-year-old has a current market value of just £22m, and seeing as he is a proven Premier League wing-back, it would be a bargain deal for Man United to complete. This season, Mitchell has been a mainstay in Oliver Glasner’s side, making 18 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals. He would be the ideal alternative to Brown either in January, or more likely, in the summer.
