Man United have reportedly tabled an offer for a highly-regarded 18-year-old wonderkid

Man United are heading into the January transfer window in a great position squad-wise. They don’t have too many injury problems. Ruben Amorim has got them playing much better football, and they could climb into the top four with a win this week against West Ham.

Furthermore, United will also look to capitalise on the chance to sign promising young players in January, to boost Amorim’s squad for the long term. So, it is no surprise that reports have linked them to a central midfield wonderkid from Greece.

Man United ‘make offer’ for Olympiacos wonderkid

One of the newest names to be linked with a move to Old Trafford is Olympiacos midfielder Christos Mouzakitis, who is fairly unknown in the Premier League, but in Greece, he is quickly becoming a superstar.

According to Greek outlet Sport Time, Man United have sent an initial offer of £25m to Olympiacos for the 18-year-old. But, according to the report, this is considered low by the Greek club, who aren’t set on selling Mouzakitis this year. The Greek club are reportedly wanting around £35m for him. Real Madrid are also named as keen on the midfielder, which shows just how much of a talent he is.

This season, the 18-year-old has made 16 appearances for Olympiacos in all competitions, providing two assists in the league. He also has seven appearances for the Greek national team to his name, which is impressive considering his young age. The Olympiacos academy product is also versatile; he is primarily a centre-midfielder, but can also play as a holding midfielder, or in a more attacking role.

Who is Man United’s top midfield target?

However, any January move is unlikely, as Forest don’t want to sell the 22-year-old. They have placed a £100m-plus price tag on him to stave off any interested clubs, so a move for Anderson in the summer is more likely.

Brighton’s Carlos Baleba is a similar story, as United were put off signing him in the summer due to the Seagulls’ astronomical asking price for the 21-year-old. He could yet again be a target for United in the summer, if they opt against signing Anderson.
