Manchester United were left frustrated after being held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham United in a tense Premier League clash under the Old Trafford lights on Monday night.
United head coach Ruben Amorim made three changes to his side.
Noussair Mazraoui, Matheus Cunha and Ayden Heaven came in for Leny Yoro, Mason Mount and Matthijs de Ligt.
West Ham started the game strongly but the hosts quickly gained momentum.
Diogo Dalot put his side ahead with a strike from close range after Casemiro’s deflected shot fell into his path.
The Red Devils have been highly vulnerable in defending corners and that came to light again with the visitors drawing level through Magassa.
The stalemate leaves United stranded in eighth place, a missed opportunity on a night when victory could have launched them into the fifth spot.
Player Ratings
Senne Lammens – 6/10
Not at fault for the goal and was merely a spectator otherwise.
Noussair Mazraoui – 7/10
A breath of fresh air in the right centre-back role. He constantly stepped forward to support attacks and produced a brilliant goal-line clearance, only for the rebound to be tucked into the net moments later.
Ayden Heaven – 4/10
Making his maiden start of the 2025–26 campaign, the teenager endured a nervy outing.
He appeared uneasy in the central centre-back position and picked up a yellow card in the eighth minute after a rash sliding tackle.
Luke Shaw – 6/10
His advanced positioning helped United pin West Ham back for long spells.
He offered solid support to Heaven and Yoro in central defensive areas.
Amad Diallo – 6/10
Looked like United’s most threatening attacking outlet for an hour, but his intensity faded noticeably after the team took the lead.
Diogo Dalot – 7/10
Amorim asked him to step up on Friday and he delivered with a well-taken goal.
Casemiro – 6/10
It was a surprise to see the veteran midifelder starting this game but made two impressive blocks in the first half.
Bruno Fernandes – 5/10
Came closest to scoring in the first half with an acrobatic effort that brushed the post before flying wide.
He squandered a golden chance in the 91st minute, slicing his shot when United desperately needed a winner.
Bryan Mbeumo – 5/10
The Cameroon international nearly broke the deadlock through a short corner only to see goalkeeper tipping his shot over the bar.
He hit the floor looking for a penalty rather than firing the shot after beating his marker.
Matheus Cunha – 5/10
Cunha made his return from the head injury but failed to make crucial contributions in the final third.
Joshua Zirkzee – 7/10
Handed his second start of the campaign, he was inches away from scoring before Aaron Wan-Bissaka produced a superb goal-line clearance.
The Dutchman contributed effectively, showcasing excellent combination play with those around him.
