Nuno Espirito Santo felt West Ham "were in control of the situation" after conceding against Manchester United, which gave him hope his side would score an equaliser to earn a point at Old Trafford. United broke the deadlock in the 58th minute against West Ham thanks to Diogo Dalot, who picked up the ball in the box to score at the Stretford End following a shot from Casemiro.

The Reds were on course to win back-to-back Premier League games, but Soungoutou Magassa scored in the 82nd minute to salvage a point for his side. West Ham boss Nuno reacted in his press conference, saying: "I think it was a good performance overall. First half, we contained the momentum, and the beginning of the game was ours.

"Second half was very good, even though we conceded. I think it is well deserved that we got the draw. The reaction and character was there today. It is a bit of a small step."

Nuno was asked whether he was confident West Ham would get a goal to ensure the points were shared and responded: "I am always positive, and what I was seeing is we were playing good. The boys were in control of the situation. You say a chance came late, but it came."

West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen told Sky Sports: "We always knew it was going to be a difficult game coming here. They came off the back of a really good result away at Palace, and we were on the end of another disappointing result.

"We wanted to show a reaction and I think we showed that from going a goal down to getting back into the game. I was really proud of the team tonight. The way they fought, the way they ran, and got a deserved point.

"In the Premier League it's got to be that way. You can't be too disheartened when you go a goal down. There's still a lot of time to play and we have to believe.

"We have that belief, I think you can see that, and then we get the goal from a set piece which is really important for us. Sounga got his first goal, delighted for him, he deserves it so much. I'm really happy for him."
