Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is set to debrief with his players on Friday following Thursday night's disappointing 1-1 draw against West Ham in the Premier League.

The Red Devils initially took the lead in the second half through a well-taken finish from Diogo Dalot inside the box. However, they were unable to hold on and secure all three points, as Soungoutou Magassa struck a late equaliser for the Hammers at Old Trafford.

Amorim's side remain eighth in the standings, level on 22 points with both Liverpool and Brighton. As things stand, they sit just two points off the top four, but that did little to silence accusations that United have regressed in recent games after such a positive run of form - much to the manager's frustration.

Speaking in his post-match press conference on Thursday, a rather spiky Amorim addressed those claims, while also confirming his plans to debrief the result with his players once the dust has settled.

It emerged last season, after a defeat to Brighton in January, that the United boss damaged a television screen in the dressing room during a furious critique of his players, with a more calm and measured approach having been taken ever since.

"In that regard, I'm almost always consistent," Amorim explained to the media on. "I had one and you know. Brighton last year. I will talk to them tomorrow."

The West Ham draw comes on the back of a mixed week of results, in which United were beaten 1-0 at home by Everton, despite the visitors being reduced to 10 men early in the game. However, they bounced back impressively over the weekend to come from behind and beat Crystal Palace away from home.

While Amorim admits his side are far too inconsistent at present, he refused to be drawn on the notion they are regressing after appearing to turn a corner earlier in the campaign. "It’s not going backwards,” he added.

"The results are going backwards. We had some moments. That can happen. You were talking about when we had that run that team was really perfect and saying we are not that far from being in the perfect moment.

"We are really inconsistent. But if you look at the goal, 83 minutes, we have a long ball, we have everything under control and we need to do better."

United return to action this weekend with a trip to face a struggling Wolves side. The Midlands club are rock bottom of the standings with just two points from their 14 league games so far this term.

The Red Devils will be hoping to use the opportunity to regain ground in the top-four race before tricky tests against Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Newcastle later in the month.
