Manchester United missed another opportunity to close the gap on the Champions League places and move up to fifth in the Premier League standings after their 1-1 draw with West Ham last night.
Diogo Dalot broke the deadlock in the 58th minute after Casemiro’s deflected shot got to his path and the Portuguese smashed home the opener.
Summer signing Soungoutou Magassa levelled the proceedings with seven minutes left of play after Jarrod Bowen’s header was cleared off the line by Noussair Mazraoui, and the Frenchman fired in the rebound.
Former Red Devils’ captain Roy Keane was left frustrated with the result and United’s lack of intensity.
“The last three or four games, that sums them up. Not quite doing enough. He said to [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/13477906/man-utd-1-1-west-ham-soungoutou-magassa-s-late-equaliser-denies-ruben-amorim-s-side-key-old-trafford-win).
“Where is the frustration with this group of players? I’ve watched the games closely. The lack of quality and intensity. They got two goals against Palace, but they defended like a pub team.
“Tonight, you give United praise before the game and they can go fifth. This team is not ready to go fifth. Fifth in the league!
“They’ve got Wolves next, they are one of the worst teams I’ve ever seen in the Premier League. Let’s see.
“I don’t get how the players or manager don’t sense it. That there could be a twist. They have to do better than that.”
The legendary midfielder further hinted at the mentality of the United team.
“After getting the goal you’re thinking United…’now go on’. They’re playing a team in the bottom three they’re probably lacking confidence,” he said.
“You get a goal in front and United, they just take their foot off the gas. They made some substitutions, their subs are going off…everyone at Old Trafford now gets a standing ovation.
“It’s all a bit silly. You’re 1-0 up… United now last two home games, one goal. You’re just putting yourself under pressure.
“Every time I watch this United team, they just leave you disappointed. They weren’t clinical and nasty enough to get the job done.
“Almost frightened to get the job done, frightened to go up to fifth. My goodness, we are talking about fifth here by the way, not top of the league. Same old problems.”
The Red Devils currently sit eighth on the table, two points off Chelsea in fourth, and travel to Wolves on Saturday in their next Premier League game.
