Roy Keane has criticised Manchester United's substitutes against West Ham for "bringing down the level" and suggested Mason Mount appeared like a "schoolboy" when he was brought on from the bench.

The Red Devils once again failed to impress their home fans, drawing 1-1 with the relegation battlers at Old Trafford after last week losing to 10-man Everton. Despite taking an early lead, they were pegged back and had to settle for a point. Amorim made several changes in an attempt to capitalise on United's lead, but these substitutions failed to make a significant impact.

After Dalot netted the game's opening goal, Amorim introduced Mount and Manuel Ugarte in place of Matheus Cunha and Joshua Zirkzee. Mount had been the hero on Sunday, scoring the winning goal as United came from behind to defeat Crystal Palace 2-1. However, the £60m flop couldn't replicate this performance, much to Keane's annoyance.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Irishman said: "When you look at the squad, considering the money that has been spent, they lack strength in depth. Particularly in the attacking areas.

"When you are trying to see a game off, I look at Mason Mount when he came on, some players take longer to get up to speed but he was like a schoolboy out there.

"You're looking for players to come on with presence. If anything they brought the levels down at United. That seemed to be the case tonight."

The stalemate in Manchester means the Red Devils have secured victory in just one of their previous five Premier League matches - though only one of those encounters resulted in a loss.

United icon Keane extended his tirade by expressing frustration with the players' failure to rise to challenging circumstances, reports the Mirror.

He said: "The reason you are playing for Man Utd is that you deal with these situations. You try and deal better being one up against a team in the bottom three and Everton with 10 men. If you can't deal with that, how can you deal with being a team in the top of the table?"

Boos rang out at the final whistle, though the Manchester side remain in eighth position and are just two points adrift of the top four.

Their upcoming challenge is a journey to pointless Wolves, who languish at the foot of the table, and anything short of three points will be deemed unacceptable.
