Fabrizio Romano shares how Man Utd board honestly feel about Ruben Amorim after West Ham

Manchester United have made their feelings clear on manager Ruben Amorim after another setback on Thursday night, according to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils were looking to pick up three points against West Ham United at Old Trafford to build on their win at Crystal Palace following the disappointing defeat against 10-man Everton at the Theatre of Dreams in their previous home game.

Manchester United looked to be on course to do exactly that following Diogo Dalot's second-half goal, but Soungoutou Magassa's late leveller meant the shares were spoiled with boos meeting the final whistle.

While the situation under Amorim isn't as bad as last year, with United currently in eighth in the Premier League table and just two points adrift of the Champions League spots, there is more than an argument to say that there hasn't been a massive improvement in terms of performances on the pitch in 2025-26.

Taking one point at home against Everton - who played the majority of the game a man down - and 18th-placed West Ham at Old Trafford simply isn't good enough for a team that spent over £200m in the summer to strengthen their attacking options.

Despite the latest disappointment, Romano wrote in his latest GIVEMESPORT newsletter on Friday that United's board are not considering a change and continue to support Amorim as we head towards the busy festive period.

There are no movements at this stage. The club keeps supporting Amorim's work at this point of the season.

Perfect Manager for Man United is Available Now

Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Reports suggest that United are ready to rival Liverpool for Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner should either club sack their manager in the coming weeks, but there is an out-of-work manager who would be a better fit at Old Trafford.

United are also said to be considering contacting Xavi should INEOS choose to sack Amorim, and the Spaniard would be a big upgrade on the Portuguese boss.

Xavi is a born-winner and has won trophies throughout his career for club and country, and that mentality is just what is required at Old Trafford to get them back to the top.

The Barcelona icon - described as the 'best manager in the world' by Joan Laporta - likes to play attacking football and is flexible with how he sets his team up.

One of the biggest criticisms of Amorim is the lack of goals - as shown again on Thursday night - and if Xavi fixed that issue he would immediately be admired by the United faithful.

INEOS will continue to monitor United's performances and results as the season goes on, and Amorim will know he needs three points - and a convincing win - against Wolves at Molineux on Monday night.

The Midlands club are rock-bottom and can't buy a point having picked up just two all season. Losing - or even drawing - there would have to be seen as another huge embarrassment for United right now.

Should the worst happen, Amorim will surely have run out of excuses and time.
