Manchester United have an important January transfer window as they look to resolve their inconsistency issues under Ruben Amorim in the Premier League

Manchester United drew 1-1 at home to West Ham in their latest outing on Thursday night. They looked on their way to a victory at Old Trafford after taking the lead in the second half through Diogo Dalot. However, the Hammers equalised near the end via Soungoutou Magassa and the hosts had to settle for a frustrating draw in the end.

The Red Devils have struggled for consistency with their results in the Premier League so far this season and haven’t quite been able to find their feet. They find themselves positioned down in 8th place in the table after 14 fixtures and still have plenty of time to turn things around. Amorim’s side are back in action on Monday with an away trip to Molineux to face a Wolves side who haven’t won yet and are rock bottom of the division.

Manchester United linked with Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento

Livramento, 23, was on the books at Chelsea as a youngster before switching to Southampton in 2021. He spent two years with the Saints and broke into their first-team before making 34 appearances in all competitions. His current club then swooped in for his signature and lured him up to the North East for an initial fee of £32 million.

The England international, who has three caps to his name so far, has been a key player for Newcastle since his transfer. He has played 92 matches for the Toon Army, 12 of which have come in this campaign, and he has scored once from the back. However, Eddie Howe could face a battle to keep hold of the player next month amid attention from United and Arsenal.

Manchester United should propose swap deal with Newcastle United in January transfer window

Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo needs to leave United as soon as possible for the sake of his career. He is out of favour under Amorim and it is a real waste of his talent to be sitting on the bench. Therefore, the Red Devils should use him as part of a swap deal with Newcastle for Livramento.

Mainoo needs to be playing regular football and a switch to the Magpies would make sense for him. They would offer him a guaranteed place in their starting XI and a platform to show what he can do again at the top level. Howe’s men are also in Europe still and compete in the Champions League which makes them an attractive team to play for.

The 20-year-old has rise up through United’s academy and was a regular for them at various different youth levels. He then became an important asset for their senior team after making his debut in 2022. The Stockport-born man has played 87 times to date and has found the net on seven occasions.

His progress has stalled recently though and he hasn’t been able to get back into Amorim’s plans. It remains to be seen whether he can still have a future with the Red Devils. He would be perfect for Newcastle now and if they are to cut ties with Livramento, getting someone of Mainoo’s quality in return would be an absolute no-brainer for them.
