Toby Collyer injury latest amid return to Manchester United

Despite playing quite a lot for Manchester United’s first team last season, Toby Collyer was allowed to go on loan, joining West Brom for the season.

It has been a mixed bag for Collyer this season.

On one hand, Collyer has had some very impressive displays, clearly being good enough for Championship football, but injuries have prevented him from getting a consistent run.

Collyer was ruled out in October before then returning fairly quickly, but now there is more bad news. Last week, Collyer suffered a fresh injury blow, and it is a worrying one.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Collyer has now returned to Carrington for evaluation over what has been described as “quite a big injury”.

West Brom manager Ryan Mason on Collyer injury

Within the MEN report, West Brom boss Ryan Mason spoke about Collyer’s situation.

Mason explained: “It’s quite a big injury. He’s at United at the minute. They’re just assessing him, and then I think in the coming weeks we’ll just decide his plan regarding his rehab.”

The Baggies are expected to be hopeful over Collyer returning to fitness and the club for the second half of the season to contribute to their promotion charge.

Summer 2026 is likely to see Collyer on the cards for a permanent transfer away from United or another loan, and he will want to play himself into a Premier League move, as he is definitely good enough.
