'Generational' wonderkid linked with Man United just scored stunning hat-trick in 18 minutes

Manchester United scouts will love what they saw from transfer target Yan Diomande in his latest performance.

Since the Ineos takeover, Manchester United have shifted their transfer strategy to put more priority on signing young talent.

The likes of Chido Obi, Sekou Kone and Ayden Heaven have already been integrated into the squad, and the strategy is already taking shape for 2026 with Cristian Orozco set to join.

The scouting department remains on the lookout for bright talent, and last month United in Focus learned that United are showing interest in Yan Diomande.

At just 19 years old, Diomande has already become a key player at RB Leipzig this season, featuring in all 13 of their 2025/26 Bundesliga matches.

The best performance of his senior career came in his latest match against Eintracht Frankfurt, where Diomande scored a hat-trick in a 6-0 thrashing.

Diomande scored his first of the match in the 47th minute and he completed his hat-trick within 18 minutes, earning a perfect 10/10 score via SofaScore.

He scored from all three shots taken against Frankfurt, and also completed four dribbles, won six duels and boasted a 90% passing accuracy.

How Yan Diomande would fit at Man United

Ruben Amorim has stuck with his 3-4-2-1 system at United, and recruitment in 2026 will likely focus on finding players who fit into that shape.

Diomande is a talented young winger, playing on both the left and right for Leipzig this season. His hat-trick against Frankfurt came with Diomande playing as a right winger in a 4-3-3 shape.

His attacking attributes would make him a suitable fit as one of the number 10s in Amorim’s system. His versatility means he could play on both the left and right.

However, Diomande’s ball-winning characteristics and impressive work rate would also make a good fit as a wing-back under Amorim.

Amorim prefers to field wingers out wide in the wing-back positions, such as Amad Diallo, who has played his best football under the Portuguese head coach.
