Man Utd predicted XI vs Wolves, Ruben Amorim boosted by injury return as Kobbie Mainoo decision made

Manchester United’s Premier League campaign will get another chance to gain momentum when they travel to winless Wolves.

The 1-1 draw at West Ham sapped the momentum that came with the win at Crystal Palace, and Ruben Amorim cut an angry and frustrated figure afterwards.

A section of Man Utd fans have turned on the manager, and it has made the game against Wolves firmly “must-win” for Amorim.

Fortunately for him, he should see a major player return for this game, while he will have to field the questions about Kobbie Mainoo that emerge from his selection call.

Goalkeeper: Senne Lammens

No prizes for guessing the Man Utd goalkeeper anymore, and that’s a huge headache solved by Senne Lammens.

Centre-backs: Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Luke Shaw

Leny Yoro should make his return to the starting lineup, especially after Ayden Heaven was subbed off at half-time vs West Ham.

Matthijs de Ligt’s return from injury should provide a big boost as he’s been one of United’s best players this season.

Luke Shaw continues on the left as Lisandro Martinez ramps up his return from injury.

Wing-backs – Diogo Dalot and Amad

Diogo Dalot will look to build on his goalscoring display here, while Amad is a no-brainer selection on the right for a United attack that is looking anaemic.

Defensive midfield – Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro

It won’t go down well, but by the same token, Amorim probably doesn’t care. Another game, another one on the bench for Kobbie Mainoo.

Mainoo has starred against Wolves in the past, but he will have to watch from the bench again as Amorim goes for the tried-and-tested pair of Fernandes and Casemiro.

Attacking midfielder – Mason Mount and Bryan Mbeumo

Mason Mount was on the bench against West Ham, so he should be good for a start here, while Bryan Mbeumo is firmly in the Bruno Fernandes category of undroppables at Old Trafford.

This also means that Amorim will go back to a combination that gave him his biggest win this season.

Is this the best Man Utd lineup to beat Wolves?

Striker – Matheus Cunha

Joshua Zirkzee did well against Palace, but it seems more like the exception to the norm at this point, as it was preceded and followed by poor games against Everton and West Ham, respectively.

With Cunha’s return and Mount starting, Amorim can play his fluid front-three again to trouble the Wolves’ defence with some movement off the ball.
