"The Kid Is Being Ruined" - Man Utd Legend Savages Ruben Amorim For His Treatment Of One Player

Man Utd legend Paul Scholes has urged Kobbie Mainoo to leave Old Trafford when the January transfer window opens.

The 20-year-old has not started a league game this season, and Scholes has been extremely critical of Ruben Amorim’s treatment of the midfielder:

“The kid is being ruined, not being played in a team that can’t control a game of football. Hate seeing homegrown players leave, but it’s probably best for him now, enough is enough.”

Mainoo tried to secure a loan move away from the club in the summer to get more game time and he is likely to try again next month.

What has Amorim said about Mainoo?

The Portuguese head coach has been rather curt in his responses to questions about Mainoo’s playing situation in recent press conferences. Speaking about the midfielder earlier this week, he said:

“I just want to win. I don’t look (at) who it is, I don’t care about that, I’m just trying to put the best players on the pitch… Of course, I understand, and my job is to answer.”

“But you always ask me the same thing. I understand what you are saying. You love Kobbie. He starts for England. But that doesn’t mean that I need to put Kobbie [in] when I feel that I shouldn’t put Kobbie [in]. It’s my decision.”

Amorim then cited Mainoo’s performances in training as one of the reasons that he isn’t getting more opportunities.

Which team could the Man Utd star join?

West Ham are believed to have made an enquiry for Mainoo last month, but the approach was knocked back by the Red Devils.

The Hammers may return with an offer in January but there is a feeling that the player would prefer a move abroad. Serie A champions Napoli are reportedly another potential destination.
