One of Man United’s loanees has scored a brace for his team, taking his goal tally up to six for the season.

Manchester United are preparing for a Monday night clash against Wolves, which could see them rise to fifth in the Premier League table. The Red Devils will be feeling confident as they face a Wolves side that has yet to win a game this season.

However, if one of the United strikers suffers an injury, Amorim will have some issues concerning selection. One of their strikers, who is on loan in Italy, has just produced a hero performance, raising questions as to whether United should have let him leave.

Hojlund scores sensational brace for Napoli

Rasmus Hojlund left on loan to join Napoli in the summer, after failing to produce consistent performances for the Red Devils over the past two years. It has been a fantastic start to life at Napoli for Hojlund, as he has scored six goals so far this season, including four in the Serie A.

The Danish international has been on fire this season, and the weekend was no different, as he scored twice in Napoli’s 2-1 win against Juventus. It was a vital three points for Antonio Conte’s side, who are now top of the league, by one point over Inter after 14 matches.

His first goal was a poacher’s finish, as he got on the end of an excellent ball into the box by winger David Neres. It put Conte’s side ahead after just six and a half minutes against a Juventus side that has really fallen from grace in recent seasons. Turkish international Kenan Yildiz scored Juventus’ equaliser, before Hojlund netted a second in the 77th minute.

He headed a ball that came across the box and was deflected off Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, into the roof of the net, which was yet again, another proper number nine finish. On both occasions, he was able to make a goal out of poor defensive play, proving that he really is becoming a proper number nine. He did stop a goalless streak he has had for Napoli as those goals were his first ones since the start of October.

Could Hojlund return to Man United?

The simple answer is that it’s unlikely that Hojlund will return to Man United. When he moved to Napoli on loan, there was a clause in the deal which would become an obligation to buy if the Serie A side qualified for the Champions League. They are currently top of the table, and in the top four by six points.

Hojlund’s obligation fee is expected to be around £43m, so Man United would likely look to invest that in a replacement for the 22-year-old. The Red Devils have Benjamin Sesko, who was Hojlund’s first replacement, but the Slovenian striker is currently injured.

He is dealing with a knee issue that is set to keep him side-lined for at least another week, but even so, Sesko hasn’t yet shown that he is much better than what Hojlund was during his time at Old Trafford. It gives Amorim a lot to ponder heading into January.
