Manchester United have sent several of their young stars on loan to various clubs to gain experience of first-team football.
While many of those starlets have enjoyed a fine spell, it is Harry Amass who is truly making a strong case to get opportunities at United next term.
Amass is currently on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and has been crowned the club’s Player of the Month for November.
The 18-year-old has scooped the award by a landslide margin. He has earned 82% of the votes, with the remaining shared by Barry Bannan and Charlie McNeill.
Amass has started all 14 Championship matches this season and has already chipped in with a goal and an assist, both coming in the last month.
The teenager intercepted a clearance and drifted inside before smashing a long-range strike past the goalkeeper into the bottom right corner against Southampton.
Despite scoring his first professional goal, Wednesday suffered a 3-1 defeat against the Saints.
He registered his first senior assist in equally impressive fashion, bursting inside from the flank, gliding past a sliding defender, and cutting the ball back perfectly for Charlie McNeill to finish.
The left wing-back position has been a problematic area for United head coach Ruben Amorim.
Diogo Dalot and Patrick Dorgu have shared minutes but have failed to impress with their performances.
Amass is learning rapidly on the job and could emerge as a brilliant in-house solution for United’s long-term problem on the flank.
The youngster has also displayed remarkable mental strength, something that will not go unnoticed at Carrington.
Sheffield Wednesday sit at the bottom of the Championship, weighed down by repeated point deductions and off-field chaos that would drain the motivation of most players.
Amass is excelling in this area, and this could be the biggest positive for the United hierarchy.
There is no doubt that he deserves promotion to the United first team next season.
