Bayern Munich ‘confident’ about chances of signing Man United star

Manchester United will hope to get back to winning ways when they visit struggling Wolves in the Premier League on Monday night.

The Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham United in their previous outing, but have been far more impressive in recent weeks than they had been at the start of the campaign.

Ruben Amorim’s side currently sit 12th in the top flight table, although victory at Molineux would lift United into the top six.

Away from the action, it has now emerged that one member of Amorim’s squad is attracting significant interest from one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

According to TEAMtalk, German giants Bayern Munich are interested in Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.

The report claims that the Bundesliga giants have been in contact with the representatives of the midfielder, who has fallen out of favour since Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford just over a year ago.

Mainoo, 20, is a product of United’s youth system and has made more than 80 appearances for the club across all competitions.

The England international hasn’t started a single Premier League match for the Red Devils so far this season, and the report claims that Bayern have made clear their desire to sign the player permanently in January.

Mainoo’s contract with United is set to run until 2027, although it appears increasingly likely that he will depart next year.

Over the summer, the Englishman pushed for a loan move away from Old Trafford but his request was blocked by the club.

It is also claimed that Bayern Munich are ‘confident’ that Mainoo would be willing to move to Bavaria, where he would join up with England teammate Harry Kane.

The report also suggests that the midfielder is keen to ensure he is playing regularly in the second half of the campaign in order to maximise his chances of being included in the England squad for the World Cup next year.
