5 Chances Created, 85 Touches: Man Utd star keeps getting better and his importance is about to grow

Bruno Fernandes was the driving force behind Manchester United’s win over Wolves, an opponent he knows well.

When Manchester United signed Bruno Fernandes in 2020, he made his debut a day later against a resilient Wolves side.

That Wolves team boasted Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, and Diogo Jota, proven Premier League and international players.

Fast-forward to 2025 and Wolves are a shadow of that team, slumped 20th in the Premier League table.

Manchester United dispatched them 4-1 away from home, with Bruno Fernandes central to everything good about the team’s performance.

How Bruno Fernandes helped to tear Wolves apart

Bruno Fernandes scored Manchester United’s opener after a calamitous defensive error from Andre, that released Matheus Cunha.

Cunha could have shot but he chose to play Fernandes in, and while he slipped, he spun and turned his opponent and prodded the ball into the net.

Fernandes then set up a goal for Mason Mount with a superb cross to make it 3-1, after Bryan Mbeumo had netted the second.

He then stepped up to score a penalty to make it 4-1, earning Manchester United’s biggest win of the season so far.

Fernandes was unlucky to only end with one assist. He created five chances, including releasing Diogo Dalot for a one v one in the first half that was saved by Sam Johnstone.

Amad created four goalscoring chances during Manchester United’s win, and Mbeumo created three.

Manchester United are about to become a lot less difficult for defences to face without the pair, over the next month.

Matheus Cunha created two chances, while Diogo Dalot made four key passes.

United won’t face Wolves each week, with upcoming fixtures against Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Newcastle set to get tougher.

Fernandes will have to be on his best form to deliver, without two of his top teammates.
