100% passes and duels, 49-touch Man United star was completely flawless against Wolves

Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount and Bryan Mbeumo deserve their flowers for scoring against Wolves but one Manchester United teammate flew under the radar.

Manchester United picked up an important 4-1 win over Wolves on Monday night, lifting the Red Devils to sixth in the Premier League table.

Ruben Amorim inspired a second-half stomp at Molineux after Wolves equalised late on in the first half.

Bruno Fernandes ended a nine-game goal drought with a brace, while Bryan Mbeumo and Mason Mount also etched their names on the scoresheet.

It was a dominant second-half performance in particular and it should give United’s talented attackers some confidence, but there was also an extremely dominant display from Ayden Heaven in defence.

Ayden Heaven was simply flawless vs Wolves

Amorim’s confirmed line-up to face Wolves included 19-year-old defender Heaven, who replaced the injured Matthijs de Ligt in the heart of the back three.

Heaven was linked with a loan move in January after struggling to break into the starting line-up, but he took his opportunity against Wolves with both hands.

Heaven was impressive in and out of possession, taking 49 touches of the ball, boasting a 100% pass success rate and winning all six of his ground and aerial duels.

He was hardly at fault for the Wolves equaliser in the first half and can consider himself unlucky to be leaving Molineux without a clean sheet.

Ayden Heaven showed resilience to bounce back

Heaven made his first start of the season last week in the 1-1 draw to West Ham at Old Trafford.

After picking up an early yellow card and struggling in a handful of duels against Callum Wilson, Amorim made the decision to take him off at half-time to avoid running the risk of a red card.

It could have knocked Heaven’s confidence, especially at such a young age, but instead he showed brilliant resilience and attitude to put on a masterclass at Molineux.

Amorim was forced to field a makeshift defence against Wolves due to injuries, meaning Heaven was the only traditional centre-back in the line-up.

But Heaven was unfazed and put on what was easily his best performance for United since his move from Arsenal.
