James Maddison says struggling Man Utd star is'high quality', has'no doubt'he'll come good

Manchester United scored four goals in a dominant victory over the league’s worst side, Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Heading into the clash at Molineux, there was no way that Manchester United could lose without a complete crisis situation occurring. Wolves are at the rock bottom of the Premier League, without a victory, yet in the first half threatened the Red Devils.

However, Ruben Amorim’s side drastically improved in the second half for United to claim a 4-1 victory over Wolves, which was ultimately much deserved and could have been an even higher scoreline.

United had several standout performers in the thumping win, and after the game, James Maddison had praise for one in particular.

James Maddison expects Matheus Cunha to come good for Manchester United

The goals in the Monday night game through a Bruno Fernandes brace, Bryan Mbeumo and Mason Mount, meanwhile, Matheus Cunha’s return to Molineux saw an assist.

In the game, Cunha was desperate for a goal, taking eight shots with one cleared off the line, but it was a better performance than the Brazilian has had in a few weeks.

“That will come for Cunha [the goals], I have no doubt about that, he’s a player with high quality.

“You see how many shots he had, he’s in and amongst it, he’s such a big threat on goal, the goals will come for him.”

Matheus Cunha will come good for Manchester United

While still far from his impressive best for United, there is still plenty to be positive about with Cunha’s game and performances still at a high level.

He might not have scored, but Cunha got an assist, which should be a big confidence boost, and on another day, he probably scores a couple.

Having not enjoyed the start of his United career, Cunha was clearly low in confidence, opting to pass to Bruno Fernandes for the assist instead of scoring when he could have gone himself.

This will come with time, and hopefully, with an assist behind him, he can now begin to kick on and become a regular goal scorer for the Red Devils.
