Manchester United got back to winning ways on Monday night, thrashing Wolves 4-1 at Molineux with an impressive second-half earning the points.
It might have only been Wolves, but scoring four goals against any opposition is worth being positive about for Manchester United.
The first-half performance at Molineux was pretty woeful, but Ruben Amorim’s half-time message to United players saw a lot of improvement and three goals after the break.
This saw United thrash Wolves 4-1 in the end, picking up some vital points and improving the goal difference.
United had several top performers during this game, but one player’s performance went under the radar with a display that was much better than usual.

Diogo Dalot has finally begun to settle into the wing-back role
All season long, one of United’s biggest weaknesses has been the left-wing-back role, with Diogo Dalot and Patrick Dorgu struggling to make the position their own.
However, this has begun to change recently with Dalot stepping up into the role over the past couple of games with a strong streak of performances, including against Wolves.

Dalot got an assist for United against Wolves, setting it onto a plate for Bryan Mbeumo’s goal as he superbly ran in behind after Matheus Cunha’s through ball before coolly picking out his teammate.
This was just one instance of the Portuguese wing-back being a creative threat as he made four chances in the game for his teammates, which was the same as Amad on the right.
The left side used to be a black hole for attacks, but Dalot is improving and benefits from the brilliant Mason Mount playing next to him. Additionally, Dalot has impressed after his role has allowed him to also invert at times, where he has really been at his best.
Manchester United can dedicate funds to the midfield after Dalot’s redemption
Heading into the January transfer window, there was an expectation that a left wing-back would be needed, but with Dalot learning the role and beginning to shine with one goal and one assist in his last two games, it isn’t a necessity.

Dalot is more than good enough to be the left wing-back for the remainder of this season, rotated with Dorgu, and that should allow the Red Devils to invest any available funds into the midfield.
Obviously, this is a small sample size and the performances came against two of the worst teams in the league, although it has been good from Dalot regardless.
The 26-year-old has often been harshly criticised this season, and sometimes it has been deserved. Although recently the improvements are clear to see, hopefully he keeps it up.
