Manchester United beat Wolves 4-1 on Monday night to move up to sixth in the Premier League table.

The Red Devils now head into next weekend sixth in the league, just one point off the top four. Whereas Man City also had a great week, as Arsenal lost to Aston Villa, handing City the chance to close the gap to just two points as Pep Guardiola’s side beat Sunderland 3-0.

With that in mind, Man City’s Premier League title chances are looking much better, and with games against Crystal Palace, West Ham and Nottingham Forest coming up, the chance to gain more points looks very real. But how could the league table finish come the end of the season? Opta’s latest predicted Premier League table has run a fresh simulation, and this is the result...

West Ham narrowly survives relegation

20 - Wolves - 20.87 predicted points

19 - Burnley - 31.50 predicted points

18 - Leeds United - 38.12 predicted points

17 - West Ham - 38.26 predicted points

16 - Nottingham Forest - 41.54 predicted points

In terms of the bottom five teams, Wolves, Leeds and Burnley are all predicted to get relegated back to the Championship. It is a slight surprise that Leeds are expected to go down after they beat Chelsea and drew to Liverpool in their last two games.

West Ham and Forest are set to narrowly avoid falling back into the Championship, but not by much over the other sides.

Tottenham drop into the bottom half

15 - Fulham - 45.18 predicted points

14 - Sunderland - 47.89 predicted points

13 - Bournemouth - 49.94 predicted points

12 - Brentford - 51.34 predicted points

11 - Tottenham Hotspur - 53.61 predicted points

Newly-promoted side Sunderland is set for a very comfortable first season back in the Premier League, but the summer changes at Tottenham don’t seem to have gone too well.

Thomas Frank’s side is expected to finish six places ahead of how they did last season, but 11th still isn’t good enough for a team in the Champions League, as Spurs are this season.

Man United predicted to finish 8th

10 - Everton - 53.63 predicted points

9 - Brighton - 56.81 predicted points

8 - Manchester United - 57.57 predicted points

7 - Newcastle United - 57.76 predicted points

6 - Liverpool - 61.32 predicted points

Man United finish just behind Newcastle, who have seen a big improvement in form in recent weeks. Whereas Liverpool are predicted to miss out on Champions League football, which is a huge blow for Arne Slot.

Man City expected to finish 7 points behind Arsenal

5 - Crystal Palace - 61.38 predicted points

4 - Chelsea - 62.24 predicted points

3 - Aston Villa - 68.32 predicted points

2 - Manchester City - 72.98 predicted points

1 - Arsenal - 80.16 predicted points

Man City do miss out on the Premier League title to Arsenal, who are expected to break the 80-point mark. Elsewhere, if you had told Palace they would finish above Liverpool at the start of the season, think of the reaction. Aston Villa also moved up to third after beating the Gunners.
