‘Wrapped in a ribbon’ – Transfer arrival from Manchester United seen as Christmas present

On Sunday, Corriere dello Sport reported Manchester United are rejecting AS Roma advances for Joshua Zirkzee.

There is belief that the Red Devils only want to sell the player permanently rather than agree to a loan. The Italian side have only been offering an initial loan deal so far.

Despite Manchester United’s stance, Roma haven’t given up hope of signing the striker.

Today’s Corriere dello Sport reports Gian Piero Gasperini wants Zirkzee ‘wrapped in a ribbon’ as a Christmas gift for January. He is seen as a dream target, even if the deal is posing several challenges.

To make it clear, the Italian newspaper state: ‘Gasp wants him wrapped in a ribbon in front of his office: a move that would be a Christmas, birthday, Easter, August Bank Holiday, and even Thanksgiving Day present.’

As well as having to negotiate with Manchester United, ‘extremely high’ commission demanded by the player’s entourage is also presented as a problem.

The player is interested in the move and that is cdriving Roma’s interest forward. The newspaper believe the Giallorossi are ‘seriously’ working on the move and could offer a hefty loan fee to secure a deal.

Gasperini’s side are also relying on the Dutchman to push commission demands away until next summer. That would be related into turning a loan from Manchester United into a permanent deal.
