“It’s their fault” – Belief arrival from Newcastle United ‘would struggle to play in Serie B’

Juventus signed Lloyd Kelly from Newcastle United on a permanent basis in the summer.

This came after an initial loan spell in Turin during which Kelly was clearly getting to grips in a new environment.

Earlier this season, the defender scored important goals against Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund. He has now started 12 times in Serie A, becoming an important part of Luciano Spalletti’s side after impressing under Igor Tudor.

He has also played centrally in a back three after initially playing at left centre-back.

Despite that, criticism for the arrival from Newcastle United has again arrived.

Journalist Andrea Bosco spoke to TuttoJuve and focused on Kelly’s situation.

He said – relayed by AreaNapoli: “Kelly is terrible, and I’ve been saying this ever since he was signed. After all, he was a reserve at Newcastle and would struggle to play in Serie B.”

Brosco further criticised Juve for their decision to sign the 27-year-old.

“It’s their fault, because with that money in January you could have signed Leoni or another real player.”

Criticism for Kelly’s qualities isn’t new, and started from day one.

A lot of it feels forced, the defender has been far from a disaster this season.
