Nottingham Forest are said to be eyeing up Atalanta teenage starlet Sergej Levak ahead of the January window.
After a busy summer, the Reds are unlikely to oversee too many signings in the new year. But some deals are expected and Levak has emerged as a potential target ahead of the winter transfer window opening.
Forest have made recruiting young talent with the potential to improve a key feature of their recent transfer business. Levak certainly falls into that category and he has a number of big clubs keen on securing his signature.
The Reds have ‘enquired’ about the 19-year-old midfielder, according to Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb. However, they are not the only ones with an interest in the youngster.
Genoa, Parma and Juventus showed ‘significant interest’ in Levak in the summer and ‘several’ European clubs now have him on their radar. Manchester United are among the teams to have recently been identified as admirers of the Croatia Under-19 international.
Levak has been in fine form for Atalanta’s youth side in Serie C. But with so many potential suitors, the Italian outfit must weigh up whether he should continue his development with them or ‘accept the offers’ that are expected to arrive in January.

Having come up through the ranks at Croatian club Osijek and then Roma, Levak joined Atalanta in July. Earlier in his career, Italian publication Calciomercato compared him to Manchester City ace Rodri while he has also been likened to ex-Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic.
Forest have signed a number of young players in recent years. Elliot Anderson is a notable example, with the England international now deemed to have a £100 million price tag on his head.
The Reds paid Newcastle United £35m for his services in July 2024 and he now has a string of heavyweight clubs eyeing him up. A January sale is unlikely but Forest could find it difficult to hang on to the midfielder in the summer.
The centre of the pitch is an area where head coach Sean Dyche does have strength in depth when everyone is fit. However, injuries are hampering the Reds this season and midfielders Ryan Yates and Douglas Luiz are currently among those sidelined.
Levak is not the only midfielder to be linked with a switch to the City Ground. Hibernian’s Josh Mulligan has also emerged as a potential target, with Forest reportedly rivalling Leeds United for his signature.
