Manchester United beat Wolves on Monday night, but once again, Ruben Amorim’s substitutions have come under fire, particularly regarding Kobbie Mainoo.
The way Kobbie Mainoo has been treated this season is utterly ridiculous, with his minutes not being anywhere near enough for the quality he has and has shown for Manchester United previously.
Fans’ reaction to Mainoo being substituted on against Wolves was telling as they cheered his introduction, a message to Ruben Amorim, who has been unfair to the midfielder.
Push comes to shove: Would you rather have Kobbie Mainoo stay at Man Utd or Ruben Amorim?

Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt advised Mainoo to go elsewhere, a decision which looks increasingly likely and has now been agreed with by Rio Ferdinand.

Rio Ferdinand also thinks Kobbie Mainoo should leave Manchester United
The future of Mainoo remains up in the air, and it could be decided as soon as next month. This is because Mainoo has grown increasingly frustrated, and a loan move is likely.
Now, Ferdinand has had his say on the Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel, agreeing with Scholes’ stance.
“I saw, shoutout to Butty and Scholesy, but I saw them talking about it the other day, and I agree with them.

What Paul Scholes said about Man Utd selling Kobbie Mainoo
“It’s ridiculous. He’s United’s brightest spark.
“He’s probably the leading man who could be here for the next five to 10 years.”

“If I think about it, I put myself in Kobbie Mainoo’s shoes, I’m out of there, I have to go, he was playing for England, but he’s wasted 18 months of his career now at Manchester United.
“I think he’s been there six months longer than he should have been; he should have gone.
“If I was him, the manager isn’t going to start playing me now, he’s not played me all these matches, he won’t play me now, so let’s be honest with each other, I’m surplus to requirements, so get me out of here.”
Manchester United should allow Kobbie Mainoo to leave on loan in January
In the summer, United would have been wrong to send Mainoo out on loan, with Amorim stating how important the 20-year-old would be.
However, Amorim’s words haven’t matched up to his actions as he has used Mainoo as nothing more than a bit-part player this season, rarely even giving him longer than 10 minutes.
It is insulting for Mainoo to be used like this, and he is just right to want to leave on loan in January for regular game-time and a head coach who values him.
Mainoo will want to go to the World Cup, and to do so, he needs a move. United needs to help facilitate this by getting a replacement in and allowing him to leave for the good of his career.
