Ruben Amorim wants so much more from his Manchester United players following the victory over Wolves.
There was a lot to like about Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Wolves on Monday night, especially in the second half.
Ruben Amorim’s half-time team talk seemed to have a big effect on United’s performance, with Bryan Mbeumo, Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes all scoring in what was a dominant 45-minute display.

But consistency has been a problem for United this season, and Ruben Amorim was the first to point out that the victory came against a winless Wolves side who are low on confidence.
The real challenge is trying to use the Wolves result as a platform to build on, and Amorim’s ultimate aim is to smash a Premier League record.

Ruben Amorim wants Man United to target 20 wins in a row
There has been plenty of attention on United winning five games in a row this season because of supporter Frank Ilett, who went viral for refusing to cut his hair until it happens.
If anyone thought that was ambitious, then Amorim is going above and beyond with his expectations.

Speaking after the Wolves win, Amorim told the press: “We have always to build momentum. We need to reach a point in this club that we can have 20 wins in a row, the next one is so important and crucial to win.
“For us, every training, every game is important, so we need to focus on the next one and to win the next one.”
Amorim has big ambitions for United, and clearly he is not afraid to air them publicly. It’s clearly a strategy to help raise standards around Carrington and to get his players focused on winning every single match.
Man City and Liverpool currently hold consecutive wins record
Amorim likely threw out 20 wins as a random number to emphasise just how much he wants his side to make winning a normality.
But interestingly, 20 wins in a row would just about break the current record held in the Premier League.
United’s arch-rivals Manchester City and Liverpool share the record at the moment having won 18 league matches in a row.

City achieved the feat between August and December in 2017, while Liverpool matched it between October 2019 and February 2020.
United’s record sits at 12 consecutive league wins, spanning from the end of the 1999/00 season until the start of the 2000/01 campaign.
