Senne Lammens arrived at Old Trafford from Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp on deadline day in September and has since impressed for the Red Devils.

The former Royal Antwerp ace has been in the starting XI for United’s last nine consecutive Premier League matches after Altay Bayindir was dropped.

United manager Ruben Amorim had turned to Altay Bayindir at the start of the Premier League season after Andre Onana had lost his place as the club’s No 1.

The Belgium international impressed in United’s 2-0 win over Sunderland in the Premier League clash at Old Trafford, with Lammens keeping a clean sheet.

Following on from United’s encounter with Sunderland, Lammens faced the biggest test of his playing spell at the Red Devils with the Premier League trip to Anfield.

United defeated rivals Liverpool 2-1 and ex-Royal Antwerp shot-stopper Lammens impressed with his Premier League performance at Anfield in October.

Lammens crossed paths with Peter Schmeichel ahead of United’s win over Liverpool and has now revealed what the 62-year-old Red Devils legend told him.

“He just wished me luck and told me to be myself,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“He gave me good energy before the game against Liverpool, and obviously we won that, so I think that was very nice.”

Lammens made an immediate impression on United fans, who coined a catchy song that compared the Belgian shot-stopper with Schmeichel, after his summer transfer.

The Belgium and United star has admitted that he is touched by how much “trust” he has built with Red Devils supporters so early into his Old Trafford spell.

“It was really nice to hear it already in the first game [against Sunderland],” Lammens said.

“I think it is a sign that the fans are happy with me. It feels really good that I can give them that trust.”

Lammens has made nine appearances for United so far and the Red Devils No 1 has one clean sheet to his name in the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.
