Man United reached new heights against Wolves never seen before under Ruben Amorim

Manchester United showed huge signs of improvement against Wolves, especially in the final third.

Bruno Fernandes was the star of the show as Manchester United beat Wolves 4-1 in the Premier League. The Portuguese playmaker ended a barren run of nine games without scoring.

Ruben Amorim piled praise on Mason Mount after he scored his third goal in four starts, while Bryan Mbeumo added to his goal tally and continues to be United’s top scorer in 2025/26.

After some toothless performances in recent weeks against West Ham and Everton, it was a much more creative display from United, albeit against a winless Wolves side.

Man United smash shots record under Ruben Amorim

United dominated Wolves in several areas, including distance covered, duels won and possession.

Especially in the second half, Ruben Amorim would have liked what he was watching from his side.

As per BBC Sport, United created 4.1 expected goals (xG), including 2.4 from open play. The Red Devils managed 27 shots in total.

It is the highest number of shots recorded by United since Amorim took charge of the club last November.

Amorim’s biggest winning margin remains the 4-0 win over Everton in December last year, but United had more attempts on goal at Molineux.

The statistics from Monday’s clash suggest United perhaps should have scored even more than they did against Wolves.

Diogo Dalot missed an early one-vs-one chance, while Matheus Cunha took eight shots without finding a way past Sam Johnstone in goal.

After the full-time whistle, Amorim was not overly concerned about United’s finishing.

“We scored four but had a lot of shots. I cannot make that connection with being more clinical. We improved a lot,” Amorim said.

“If you compare last season and this season, we are creating so much more chances and scoring more goals and having more real situations of danger. I am really pleased with that.”
