Man Utd stance on Harry Amass loan amid 'off the hook' Premier League interest, Ineos have a plan

Manchester United’s main loan success has been Harry Amass this season, and as a result, the 18-year-old is a hot topic heading into January.

While the loans completed by Manchester United this season have massively improved from prior campaigns, Jonny Evans has stepped down as loan and pathways manager.

However, his legacy will remain, sending Harry Amass to Sheffield Wednesday, where the talented wing-back has been given the platform to shine.

Wednesday are pretty much already relegated, with Amass established as one of their best players, and they are therefore desperate to retain the teenager beyond January.

However, this won’t be a guarantee.

Harry Amass has several options on the table for January

Amass has developed impressively at Wednesday this season, growing as a player both physically and technically. In his half-season, Amass has improved his attacking quality.

United are said to be thrilled with Amass’ loan; however, the Daily Mail has now reported that it is far from guaranteed that Amass will remain at Sheffield Wednesday.

While Amass is loving life in Sheffield, United’s phone is ‘ringing off the hook’ with loan interest from the Premier League and other Championship sides.

United sources have asked for patience over a decision on Amass, as they want to weigh up their longer-term plans for the 18-year-old.

Amid talks over the plans for January, United have also focused on discussions over a new deal for Amass.

Manchester United should keep Amass at Sheffield Wednesday

While it might be tempting to seek a new loan for Amass in the Premier League or high up in the Championship, it would be a risk for United to take him out of a situation where he is shining.

Amass is settled at Wednesday, and the hardship he’s going through at the club, in terms of being forced to develop his defensive qualities.

Keeping the 18-year-old at Wednesday until the end of the season would be the smart move, a club where we know he will play regularly and where the role is helping him to develop for United.

Amass can then be re-evaluated in the summer, to either re-join the United squad or loan to a Premier League side.

Ineos just need to avoid taking him out of an environment that is working for him, to then send him somewhere that he won’t play.
